This labour of love was inspired by Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt". During the planning stages of this picture, I had to get into the mind of the character and invoke certain emotions, but somehow I'd dug a little too deep and actually gotten myself mildly depressed for a week. Try it some time. Cloud is an utter mess. The more he thinks about Aerith, the more he misses her, triggering the colosal amount of guilt in his achy-breaky heart and that's caused him to feel more alone and abject than ever. In fact, he's so off the deep-end that he can even see her in his hallucinations as we can all see from the movie. Y'know what I think? I think he's been secretly trafficking drugs.
